Darren Platts CMIOSH MCMI
Chief Executive Officer
Darren started his career at the age of 16 on construction sites as a trainee site engineer. He joined the UK Military at the age of 17 whereby he specialised in transport and logistics management. Darren rose through the ranks at a young age reaching middle management where he was responsible for the planning and delivery of a logistical service.
During his last two years of service Darren decided that he would like to leave the forces to establish a new career in Health and Safety. He decided to undertake a pioneering course from Teesside University in European Machinery Safety requirements and the NEBOSH certificate to help prepare him for a life outside of the forces, in both of which he received a distinction.
Darren was hired into his first role in the United Arab Emirates at the end of his 13 year career in the forces in 2010 as the Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Manager for a well know manufacturing and construction firm. This is where Darren undertook his NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety whilst developing the companies Health, Safety and Environmental management systems and became a Chartered practitioner with IOSH.
He was subsequently head hunted to the Oil & Gas sector where he managed multiple high value complex offshore EPC projects within the region. An unfortunate early redundancy moved Darren into his next challenging role.
Darren specialises in Health, Safety & Environmental management from a strategic level on a global scale within organisations that require both detailed and technical systems. He is known and regarded as a “fixer”.
Steven James Platts Grad IOSH MIIRSM
Steven is the co-founder and managing director of Ordosafe Consultants- A team of highly skilled HSE professionals specializing in consultancy services and health and safety training. Steven has spent the last 15 years working in various industries including oil and gas, petro chemical and construction. This has given him a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of health and safety.
Steven has undertaken various large projects globally and he is now a health and safety practitioner working in the Middle East. During Steven’s own progression and training within health and safety while being situated in the middle east he found the level of training available did not match the level of training available within the UK. Due to this after collaboration with his brother Darren it was decided for Steven and Darren to create Ordosafe. With both Steven and Darren being long time serving health and safety practitioners they wanted to set a higher standard of training and consultation within the middle east region.
Business Development Director
Michael started his carrier in Ireland as an apprentice joiner at the age of 16. He established his own joinery business five years later, which developed into a larger scale bespoke fitted furniture company by the mid nineties. In an accident prone industry the company held an exemplary health and safety record.
Michael combined the experienced gained in manufacturing with a niche he identified in the construction industry to design an energy efficient construction system. He set about designing an insulated concrete formwork low energy construction system that could be constructed with a fewer trades than traditional build. He reached the desired goal when the system achieved A-Rated Energy Certification. All this was achieved with an excellent Health and safety record.
As Business Development Director Michael brings an acute awareness of the importance of Health and Safety compliance in the working environment. Every business from the sole traders, SME’s to multinational corporations must be health and safety aware and compliant. Chief Marketing Officer
Shoaib has over 12 years experience in the HSE Management, Digital Marketing and Web development. He has worked with multinational contracting companies on various mega construction projects in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. In Ordosafe his main role is to plan and organise marketing functions and operations to define marketing strategies to support the Ordosafe’s overall strategies, objectives and facilitate growth, sales.
